Lightfair 2008 Success

LF2008Once again, Ciralight was running on all cylinders at Lightfair 2008 the last week of May at the Las Vegas Convention Center. LIGHTFAIR International is North America’s premier annual lighting industry event for architectural and commercial lighting products and services. The show brings top international and domestic Architectural, Design, Engineering and Lighting professionals together with exhibitors from around the world.

As “value added,” Ciralight showcased an installation of the SunTracker product to media — both consumer and trade — at the 2,400 student Desert Oasis High School in Las Vegas, which is scheduled to open in August. 66 SunTrackers have been installed in the main gymnasium, auxiliary gymnasium, cafeteria area and some classrooms on the second floor.

Light levels were at 60 foot candles at 8:50 in the morning under a partly cloudy sky, were 90 foot candles at 11 AM, and around 68 fc at 4 PM. All of these readings were in the main gymnasium, which has 46-foot high ceilings.

Media representation included the Las Vegas Business Press, Las Vegas Review Journal, Architecture magazine, Architectural Lighting, Commercial Building Products, Consulting-Specifying Engineer, DDI (Display & Design Ideas), Electrical Contracting Products, LD+A (Lighting Design + Application) and Specified Lighting Design.

Meanwhile, an editor from DDI spoke with Ciralight CEO Earl Houston about retail applications and is planning to write about the Office Depot LEED store in Texas. Plus, LD+A editor Paul Tarricone is considering writing a sidebar for September’s “sustainability” issue.Earl and Jacque also had the attention of editors from Electrical Contracting Products as they were guests of the magazine for breakfast prior to one of the school tours and were able to further explain the benefits of the SunTracker.
