COMPANY HISTORY

Ciralight has rich storied roots beginning long before "green" was trendy.

Advanced daylighting (sun tracking skylights) has been around for decades. This revolutionary new technology was invented in the 1980s by an American, Lee Dominguez. There are thousands of these units installed throughout the United States and in other countries around the world.

Ciralight's headquarters is located in Park City, Utah

In 1999, Lee's company, So-Luminaire, entered into a joint venture, with the Japanese company Sanyo for the purpose of carrying Dominguez' advanced daylighting technology forward. Under the agreement, So-Luminaire brought its patents to the table and Sanyo contributed operating capital. So-Luminaire would continue to market the product and Sanyo would manufacture it.

After six years of operations, marketing and product re-design, the SNS joint venture still fell short of its founders' expectations. It was time to make a corporate shift.

Nature's Lighting FoundersJacqueline Stevens, the President of So-Luminaire then met with Steve Briee, owner of the company that installed the daylight systems, Dave Broderick an investor, and Michael Basch, one of the founding officers of FedEx. In September 2005, they formed a new company called Nature's Lighting. It's mandate was to re-tool the product to provide faultless, reliable daylighting , to develop innovative new products, and to bring state of the art daylighting technology to the commercial marketplace. In January of 2007, Nature's Lighting became Ciralight in order to better build its international brand.
